Lancaster City is home to several iconic cemeteries, each of them with a unique story to tell. Many well-known people are buried within the confines of these cemeteries, shaded by beautiful trees and resting alongside intricate gravestones. Join our knowledgeable tour guide as we explore Lancaster City’s historic cemeteries, and learn about the lives of the remarkable people within
The tour will explore four major cemeteries:
- Lancaster Cemetery
- Shreiner-Concord Cemetery
- Greenwood and Woodward Hill Cemetery
- St. James Episcopal Cemetery
At each of the cemeteries, we will focus on the people buried there that helped to shape the history of Lancaster. We will explore the stories and background of these notable individuals, and by focusing on the cemeteries in which they are buried, you will gain a unique perspective on their lives and impact on the culture around us.
We will meet at the Parish Resource Center at 8:15 am to load the bus and leave by 8:30 am. Please wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. The bus will drop us off as near to each cemetery’s entryway as possible. We will be standing and walking for much of the time touring cemeteries. We will return to PRC by 12:30pm. The rain date is June 20.
