In 2021 and 2022, PRC helped to furnish new apartments for a number of households at the request of local social workers who routinely saw people moving out of homelessness, or into new living situations, where they did not have the basic furnishings they needed or the resources to purchase them. The more we worked with people transitioning out of homelessness, the more we realized that this is a larger, ongoing need that requires an efficient, ongoing solution.

PRC is currently in the process of setting up a Housewares Pantry that will accept donations from the community and be open to the general public to “shop” the basic housewares that they need. The pantry will include things like dishes, silverware, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, storage containers, mops and brooms, dishcloths and tea towels, and cleaning supplies.

We will soon start recruiting volunteers to sort, stock, and staff the pantry. Some volunteers will also be needed to deliver items to clients with transportation or time constraints. Donations of new and gently used items will soon be accepted.
