Learn to use and adapt Godly Play in your unique setting. Use it with children in multi-age settings or in intergenerational mixes of children and adults. Brainstorm what opportunities are available in these settings and find creative solutions to possible challenges.
Godly Play is a contemplative method to cultivate inner spirituality in children and adults. The wondering questions, emphasis on story-telling, and sacred space are simple enough for children to understand, but deep enough to engage adults.
Alyssa Pasternak Post, M.A. in Theological Studies, is the Director of Children, Youth, and Families at St. James Episcopal Church. She began practicing Godly Play methods six years ago. She has completed both Godly Play’s Basic and Advanced trainings. Her children remind her to be in the joy of the present moment on a daily basis.
