Non-citizens (of any immigration status) report facing barriers to accessing health care and skipping or postponing care more often than citizens. Hurdles can include some obvious ones like language barriers and lack of insurance. But there are many more hidden ones as well that make navigating our healthcare system particularly difficult for immigrants and refugees.

Join us to learn more about what challenges people face and how Union Community Care and others are working thoughtfully to overcome them for Lancaster’s large refugee and immigrant population. Learn how you can be involved to help make our healthcare system accessible so everyone can get the care they need.

Kimberly Martin, Kristin Labezius, and Emily DiCola are the Community Health Resource Coordinators at Union Community Care. They work directly with recent and established immigrants and refugees as they help them navigate the medical systems and social services to receive services. Union Community Care are nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Centers providing dental care, medical care, urgent care, school-based health care, behavioral health, social support services, and pharmacy services throughout Denver, Ephrata, Lancaster, Lebanon, and New Holland. Union offers discounted rates for medical and preventive dental services, payment plans, and programs that keep their services affordable. No one will ever be turned away from care if they can’t pay.
